Faculty

To ensure both continuity and fresh perspectives, the Michener Center faculty is built with fixed and moving parts. Writers from UT’s departments of English, Theatre and Dance, and Radio-Television-Film comprise our Resident Faculty, and each year we also welcome an exciting roster of distinguished Visiting Faculty. Typically, three or more visitors are in residence each year, teaching workshops and other special studies courses. That our faculty members—resident and visiting—are as passionate about their teaching as they are their writing is of the utmost importance. Like our students, our faculty afford the program a wealth of varied experience, an abiding sense of shared enterprise, and deep commitment to the making of literary art.

Resident Faculty

By any measure, by every measure, the writing faculty at the University of Texas is extraordinary. Our writers are internationally renowned, lauded by critics and embraced by readers and audiences around the world. Our fiction writers and poets have written internationally bestselling novels, award-winning story collections, graphic novels, and seminal books of poetry. Our screenwriters have worked with everyone from HBO to Warner Brothers, and our playwrights have produced work off-Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and in countless regional and experimental theaters in the US and abroad.

Current Visiting Faculty

Each year the Michener Center brings visiting distinguished faculty to teach workshops and studies courses and give public readings.

Past Visitors

Since its founding, the Michener Center has sought gifted writers and teachers as visiting distinguished faculty.
